T In The Park 2013: Crew Accreditation & Catering

T in the Park is a major Scottish festival that takes place at Balado airfield, near Perth. The three day festival sees around 85,000 guests per day who come from all over to see headline acts such as Rihanna, The Killers and Mumford and Sons.

IVS worked with the organisers of the festival for two weeks during the build-up and show of the event to provide staff management services. We provided a bespoke staff accreditation system that gave the organisers a simple solution to give all of their staff the correct passes for the duration of the event.

We also provided the festival with a crew catering e-voucher system which catered for over 6,000 staff per day on show days. The 2D barcode system allowed the festival to allocate electronic meal vouchers to each crew member in the database and monitor redemption. In future this will help the organisers keep wastage of food for their staff down to a minimum, reducing costs and increasing efficiency.

Separately, IVS was also contracted by the festival’s principle bar operator Central Catering to provide managed fast-card payment terminals in the main public bars. This marked the event’s first step into going cashless by allowing people to use their credit and debit cards, with chip & pin or contactless. The system used internet connectivity provided by Etherlive to enable fast, continuous service with transaction speeds of around 2 seconds achieved – much faster than you get in the high street.
